Robert Collins is Conrad Hilton Endowed Professor of Urban Studies and Public Policy at Dillard University in New Orleans. Other positions he has held at Dillard include: Associate Provost and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Founding Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Chair of the School of Social Sciences. His research interests include: urban politics, the politics of land use planning, and disaster planning. His most recent publication is: No More “Planning by Surprise,” Post-Katrina Land Use Planning in New Orleans. In Liu, A., Anglin, R.V., Mizelle, R.M., & Plyer, A. (Eds.). Resilience and Opportunity: Lessons from the U.S. Gulf Coast after Katrina and Rita. Washington, D.C.: The Brookings Institution Press. He holds a Ph.D. in Urban Studies from the University of New Orleans. He has been a member of UAA since 1999, served on several committees, and was Co-Chair of the Local Host Committee for the UAA Annual Conference in 2011.
